Trying to wrap your head around the reality that Milli Vanilli *didn't* actually sing their hot song? Geeking out on the introduction of The Sci/Fi Channel on Cable TV? LOL'ing at the movies watching "Home Alone"? Well if you were near a Chevrolet Dealership you could have had your heart skip a beat as the introduction of The Chevy 454 SS commenced on showroom floors. With the sport truck craze in full swing GM decided to offer a factory fast/performance pedigree pickup to the public to appeal to the enthusiast with a heavy right foot and a need to haul and tow. The 454 SS was born and filled a niche with a power packed ½ ton short wheel base truck that hadnt exited GM assembly lines since the 70s. Its rounded modern day body lines 454 SS badging and graphic package distinctive and sinister egg crate grille and chrome sport wheels combined with the torque monster under the hood made the Truck from Hell a force to be reckoned with. Production ran from 1990-1993 with just a mere 17000 trucks hitting the streets across the country. And while this beautiful truck started out its life as a "Fleetside" like many truck owners of the times a Stepside is what they really wanted. Thankfully for them places like Trick Trux of Arlington Texas were around to customize a standard cab into a flareside cab. And this one was done right. It looks factory fresh and correct. Under the hood the original 7.4-Liter 230 Horsepower 385 lb ft torque V8 - which was also used in 2500 and 3500 Series trucks - propelled this lighter weight truck to 0-60 times of around 7.7 seconds; largely in part to its superior 3.73 gears. By 1992 though its power had increased to 255 Horsepower and 405 lb ft of torque - along with a superior 4L80E 4-Speed Automatic Transmission. Coupled with an even higher 4:10 rear end 0-60 times dropped to around 7.2 seconds. And while it's not "Rocket Fast" by today's standards it's still a blast to drive and easy to modify to your acceleration's desires. And with only 87K original miles it starts runs drives shifts and performs exactly like you'd expect it to. An aftermarket exhaust with twin chrome pipes adds an authoritative rumble without sounding obnoxious. Everything else performance-wise-mechanical appears completely original which is an added plus to its collectible allure. All four Firestone Firehawk 275/60R17 tires mounted on Aftermarket 17" Chrome Wheels are in very good condition. This truck also sports the highly desirable Victory Red Paint Scheme which was only available in 1992 and 1993. While black is the color they're mostly found in - and arguably its most sinister looking as well - if you've ever tried to keep a black vehicle clean and scratch/scuff free you'll appreciate the choice of red. On the outside this truck is cleaner nicer straighter and sharper than 90% of the vehicles half its age. A bedliner and Sliding Rear Window add to its rugged good looks. It's also rust free thanks to its North Texas heritage. Of note is the CARFAX Report which does show this truck was involved in an accident waaaaayyyyy back in August of 1994 but it was professionally repaired and maintains a completely clean 'Blue' Texas title. On the inside this smoke-free Chevy's interior is as absolutely nice and impeccable as you could probably hope to find on any vehicle that wasn't kept in a museum its entire life. We never use words like "Showroom" "Like New" or "Immaculate" to describe our vehicles but this one is as close as you'll probably find. The A/C blows ice cold and the Power Windows & Locks work. Of note is the Power Driver's Seat which is not working; and the radio which comes on but no volume can be heard. This might be due to the OEM Graphic Equalizer which does not come on. As with any pre-owned vehicle it does have the usual amount of cosmetic imperfections that are inherent to a vehicle of this age and mileage.
